Leaving Town

Posted by Arden Wallace I’ve lived in California for almost five years now. Before moving here, I lived in Oklahoma my whole life. I am from a small, sleepy town, and never thought I would leave. Sometimes unexpected things happen though. When I was 24 years old and thought I had my whole life planned out, my fiancé dumped me out of the blue. After that I felt so claustrophoic at home. Everyone knew my business, and I just couldn’t stand being there anymore. I had always wanted to move to California, so I decided to take off. All my friends and family were worried about me, but I knew I would be fine. The gave me all sorts of lectures, like how I need to look into California home security systems and that I would have a hard time finding a job. It was tough when I first got here, but now I am totally adjusted and settled. It feels good that I proved them wrong.
